Hero Award
Categories
An award is granted to a recipient in each of the
following categories every year. (Please note that two or more people may
function as a team during a particular event, so it is possible to have more
than one Hero recipient per category).
The Hero must live or work (or the event must occur)
in one of
the towns served by the South Central
CT Chapter. Nominations may be made for both living and posthumous Heroes.
FIRE FIGHTER
The nominee is a professional or volunteer Fire Fighter who responded to an
incident or performed an extraordinary act of courage or kindness. The incident
may or may not be related to a fire fighting incident, CPR or the use of skills
associated directly with the job of fighting fires. This may have occurred on or
off duty.
LAW ENFORCEMENT
The nominee is a Police Officer who responded to an incident or performed an
extraordinary act of courage or kindness. The incident does not have to be
related to the use of skills directly associated with the job. This may have
occurred on or off duty.
MEDICAL
The nominee is a Medical professional who is associated with a medically
related rescue or other act of extraordinary kindness. The incident does not
necessarily have to be associated with a medical emergency. This have may have
occurred on or off duty.
911 DISPATCH
The nominee is associated with the 911 Dispatch Operations. The event will
have involved a situation where a dispatcher, supervisor or employee at the 911
office talked a caller through a crisis or responded to an incident. This may
have occurred on or off duty.
ADULT GOOD SAMARITAN
The nominee is 21 years of age or over and is associated with a rescue or
other act of extraordinary kindness, or is involved in a project or ongoing
effort that directly benefits a community. The incident can involve any event
that made a real difference in the community through kindness, courage and
unselfishness in a time of need.
YOUTH GOOD SAMARITAN
The nominee is under 21 years of age and is associated with a rescue or
other act of extraordinary kindness, or is involved in a project or ongoing
effort that directly benefits a community. The incident can involve any event
that made a real difference in the community through kindness, courage and
unselfishness in a time of need.
MILITARY
The nominee is associated with the United States Armed Forces. The event
will have involved a situation where a Service Member was involved with a rescue
or other act of extraordinary kindness. This may have occurred on or off duty.
ANIMAL RESCUE
The nominee is associated with a rescue that involved an animal. The
incident can involve an animal that has protected a human in a time of need, a
person who rescued an animal from a traumatic situation, or an animal who
provides everyday support to a human in a very special way. |
