Special Events Volunteer
Assist with the execution of South Central Connecticut Chapter’s special events which include: Heroes of Greater New Haven Annual Breakfast, Annual Paint the Town Red Gala, and other events as identified by the chapter. Details

Volunteer Health & Safety Instructors
Volunteers are needed weeknights and Saturdays to instruct our First Aid and CPR classes in our Wallingford branch and New Haven Chapter House. Volunteers are required to teach 36 hours of instruction over a 2 year period to receive free training for this opportunity. Individuals with good presentation and speaking skills are encouraged to volunteer. Must have reliable transportation.

Transportation Program
Volunteer drivers are needed for Wallingford, Meriden and Guilford residents. Volunteers must have a valid driver’s license. Drivers will be picking up and dropping off residents for medical appointments. Volunteers will be using Red Cross vehicles (or get reimbursed for mileage from the Chapter if using their own vehicle). Drivers must have valid drivers license.
Disaster Action Team (DAT)
Volunteers are needed to respond to fires and emergencies within the 15 towns we serve. DAT members are on call 5 days of the month from 6pm-6am. Volunteers are required to take disaster training in order to become a DAT member.
Blood Drives
Volunteers are needed for drives held in Cheshire, Wallingford, Meriden and North Haven (contact Andrea Balsamo at 203-265-6721 or by email) and in New Haven, East Haven, West Haven and Hamden (contact Christine Dalton at
203-787-6721 or by email). Most drives are held during the morning or afternoon hours and are 5 hours long. Training will be provided.

Service to the Armed Forces (SAF)
Volunteers make presentations and provide education to family members of active and reserve military members, as well as for the Community based military in the South Central CT Chapter area. Training Required: Introduction to Disaster Services, Family Services & SAF training.
