There will be some exciting things happening this year for the South Central Red Cross Youth Volunteers. The South Central Chapter is a great place to volunteer, whether you are doing it to build up your extracurricular activities for your college application, or really want to be involved with an organization whose mission is to help save lives.

Masters of Disaster is a K-8 curriculum that covers 11 topics which address specific types of disasters, such as weather-related, geological or human-caused. The curriculum focuses on what to do before, during and after a disaster, occurring in different places like the community, at school and at home. The American Red Cross created Masters of Disaster to help you be ready to answer questions from youth such as "Why did it happen?", "Will it happen again?" and "Am I safe?"
The curriculum is available in 2 kits: A Family Kit or Educator's Kit. The Educator Kit meets national educational standards, and both kits come with stickers, certificates, a DVD and a CD with all the lessons plans.
If you are interested in ordering these kits, please contact Christine Dalton at (203) 787-6721 or cdalton@arcsct.org for more information.
