There will be some exciting things
happening this year for the South Central Red Cross Youth
Volunteers. The South Central Chapter is a great place to volunteer,
whether you are doing it to build up your extracurricular activities
for your college application, or really want to be involved with an
organization whose mission is to help save lives. |

Masters of Disaster is a K-8
curriculum that covers 11 topics which address specific types of
disasters, such as weather-related, geological or human-caused.
The curriculum focuses on what to do before, during and after a
disaster, occurring in different places like the community, at
school and at home. The American Red Cross created Masters
of Disaster to help you be ready to answer questions from
youth such as "Why did it happen?", "Will it happen again?" and
"Am I safe?"
|
|
| The curriculum
is available in 2 kits: A Family Kit or Educator's Kit. The Educator
Kit meets national educational standards, and both kits come with
stickers, certificates, a DVD and a CD with all the lessons plans. |
|
|
If you are interested in ordering these kits,
please contact Christine Dalton at (203) 787-6721 or

(all
ages)
Red Cross School clubs are
school-based service groups that help the Red Cross fulfill its
humanitarian mission. Working closely with the local Red Cross Unit,
club members participate in Red Cross Service projects that impact
their community and the world. Student members will discover many
new opportunities for self-development and be encouraged to choose
activities that will most effectively fulfill the community’s
greatest needs. |
Office Assistance
(high school and older)
The Red Cross is looking for volunteers to help with various
clerical duties such as mailings, data entry, filing, answering
phone calls, washing and vacuuming cars, etc. Offices are located in
New Haven
and
Wallingford. |
Masters of Disaster

Red Cross has developed a curriculum that not only teaches students
about disaster safety, but helps teachers meet their required
objectives as well!
The
Masters of Disaster Curriculum Kit contains
ready-to-go lesson plans, activities, and demonstrations on
disaster-related topics that teachers can incorporate within core
